you are here: the journal of creative geography is a small-run, literary magazine dedicated to expressions of space and place. I founded the journal in 1997 while I was a graduate student in the Department of Geography and Regional Development at the University of Arizona. My aim was to create a forum for more personal and artistic interpretations and experiences of geography, an academic discipline that explains so much about our complex world but is so often misunderstood (e.g. reduced to the naming of places). A decade later, the thing is still alive thanks to the efforts of the passionate student editors who have carried and passed the torch and the counsel of its previous editors.
